Cigar Box Guitars in the Spotlight 07/29/2010
I've been dropping in on Dan Stevens, blues player lately and dropping off some goodies for him. So far, Dan has been playing the life out of a little three string guitar he got from me. I also let Dan try out one of my telephone mics and he seems to love it. I went to see him use both pieces of equipment last night at the Steak Loft in Mystic CT last night. They sounded amazing. It is really great to see them used in the field. Dan will be playing in a blues festival next week up in Maine. You should go check him out. You can hear how great these instruments really sound. He's an amazing blues player. I may give him a couple extra instruments in hopes to spread the CBG goodness. Here is a little peak of Dan playing that three string banger in Grand Central Station, NY. Time to buy Curse of the Were Whale 07/23/2010
![]() Is it a man that becomes a whale or a whale that becomes a man. No on knows for sure. This book is a must have for any comic fan who likes quirky, awesome, action packed stories with inter-weaved prose and letters that magically tie each of these short stories together. I have provided a four page story and a Were Whale shanty that resides on the back cover. There are two larger stories by two wonderful artists and friends, Chris Gugliotti and Jason Snair. Our friend and artist John Burns was kind enough to spin yarns and create letters from sailors and other characters to weave each of the three stories together. Readers are rewarded with some amazing sketches and concept art from the artists. Pick it up in hard cover, soft cover or digital. Your choice! Library of an Early Mind 07/19/2010
![]() I was recently asked to create a main image for a children's book documentary called, Library of and Early Mind. The documentary focuses on some great authors throughout children's book and young adult literature. You can learn more about the film by visiting the website. The film is working its way through film festivals and I'm eager to hear how it does. Judging by the trailer it looks to be a really interesting documentary. Steampunk Bizarre Has Ended 07/17/2010

I will be tackling a variety of myths and rumors surrounding this submersible beast through the eyes of an old captain. Jason and Chris have two fabulous tales in the works and more information about them can be found on their Artgasm Blog. Check it out today! Licoln Bass Guitar 04/25/2010
I'm putting the finish on the Licoln Bass Guitar I've been working on for quite some time. I'm hoping that this will be a piece that people can't stop talking about online and hopefully generates a significant amount of traffic as well as commissions. This is a really fun piece to work on. I have another commission I will be starting as soon as I am finished with the bass. Hopefully within the next week or so I will have pictures of the final instrument as well as some video on youtube. Here's a few more picts. Now go tell the world! I just came across a pile of old illustrations and photoshop assignments in an old portfolio. A lot of inspiration stuff that reminds me that I once did a lot of experimenting with my work. Experimenting that I need to get back to. I worked with a great group of illustrators and I spent a lot of quality time brainstorming and inspiring with them. I think I need to get back to that. This blog post is an introduction for a large grouping of "Art of the Week" blog posts you'll see in the near future. Stay tuned and prepare to follow them. New Projects and Long Running Projects 01/28/2010
I recently received word that I will illustrating some really fun work in the coming months. Some of it I can talk about. One of the big things this year for me, as an artist, is the Steampunk Bizarre in July 2010. I have acquired a lot of supplies and am working with various craftsmen to aid with design and construction. I currently have multiple amps and guitars that will be built for the show. I also started pre-production work on a comic book that will debut at the Steampunk show and then also be sold at the New England Small Press Assembly show and New York Comic Con 2010. I will provide more information on each project as they come to fruition. Steampunk Flea Market Collecting 01/11/2010
After being asked to be in the Steampunk Bizarre, I've decided to spend every Sunday at my local fleamarket. I'm stock piling brass, pipes, gauges and other components in hopes of expanding my palette. I just posted a photo album on my facebook fan page. Please stop by the page and enjoy the pictures. I will be uploading more pictures in the coming weeks and will be adding an album for finished pieces. |
