There are a lot of answers located in the FAQ section as well for people who already own guitars as well as those looking to purchase.
ChordsA lot of people want to know about chords. Well, every instrument is different depending on tuning and the number of strings. SO! To help you out I have put a program called Frets on my server for you to download.
Simply go to TOOLS>INPUT and choose the number of strings on the instrument and what they are tuned to. It will generate tableture for you to see your finger positions! |
TuningSo, you bought, ordered or gifted one of my guitars and you don't know how to tune it. Here is some quick information on tunings. Most of my guitars are three or four string builds. I usually use the top three or four or bottom three or four strings from a standard set of guitar strings. I tend to use the "four and twenty" tuning when I finish building the guitars.
You can use an online guitar tuner like this to help you. This is the one I usually use, because of the ease of the drop-down menu. Here are a few tunings to get you started: Four and Twenty: D A D D A D Open G: D G D D B G Open C: C G C G C E Open E7: E G# D E B E So, depending on which strings you use, depends on which end of that scale you'll be using. You can restring most of my guitars to suit. You may require a new nut. Most of them are removable. A lot of players opt for using strings 5, 4, 3 and 2. And they tune them to an open chord. I hope this helps. If you have any questions, please use the contact form and I will do my best to help. My biggest advice is to experiment until you find your favorite. Right now, mine is E7 with strings 3,2 and 1. My three string standard string gauges right off my workbench: Martin Medium Gauge Strings 13 17 35 |
